It’s official. My coochy is sore from the amount of sex and orgasms I’ve had with Wes yesterday. We had a full session after he returned with the flowers that made it impossible for either of us to really move. Wes insisted on me staying in his bed and I was too tired to argue about it.

As of right now, Wes is breathing heavily which, from the past few days of being with him, indicates that he’s fast asleep. Carefully, I maneuver out from under his embrace and slip a pillow in my place.

I peer out the window and notice that the sun is trying to break through the clouds and it’s not snowing. After relieving myself, I head out into the living room to check the status of the streets.

There are people walking and a few driving. Some are digging out the cars that were parked on the street while others open up their shops.

I look back in the direction of Wes’ bedroom and make a decision that is for the best. I quickly put on my jeans and don’t change out of Wes’ shirt I slept in. Then, I shrug on my sweater and vacate the bedroom. I rush to put on my boots and hesitate for a moment, contemplating on whether or not to take the flowers he gave me. Hoisting my bag over my shoulder, draping my jacket over my arm, I snatch the flowers from the pitcher we put them in and leave the apartment.

My finger furiously presses the elevator button, needing to get as far away from Wes as possible. I need to be the one to cut ties first. I need to control the outcome of all of this. I need to restrict the amount of pain that my heart will suffer. My chest tightens—perhaps it’s too late.

I turn left at the end of the block and take it to the next one, turning right to avoid the chance of Wes finding me as I try to figure out where I am and the best way to get home. Luckily, after checking the map on my phone, I only need to walk a few blocks to get to the train station.

I let out a heavy breath the second my ass reaches the seat on the train. My body shifts slightly when it takes off and I’m thankful for the solitude. There are only a few people on the train which makes me think that a lot of people will be heading to work later than usual today.

As I reach the top of the steps to street level, my phone buzzes in my pocket. My eyes bulge when the name on the caller ID says Wes Porter. He must have added it when I wasn’t in the room or sleeping. My thumb hits the button on the side to silence it and then I press the red button so it’ll go to voicemail after it’s done ringing on his end.

“Hello, Simone,” Mrs. Downey says in a sing-song voice when I exit the elevator onto my floor.
