âHe looks like heâs about to pass out,â Hunter said softly from the other side of the bed, running his hand through Loganâs hair. Our little guy hugged his stuffed octopus, Legs, tightly to his chest, fighting to keep his eyes open.
âI thought heâd be out as soon as his head hit the pillow. I think Ford made him laugh for five minutes straight.â
âI love that, though. You know? The way heâs loved on.â Hunter was determined to show Logan more love than his parents had ever shown him when he was little. When Loganâs mom had passed and Hunter suddenly found himself with a kid, heâd embraced his newfound fatherhood, without having a clue as to how to take care of a child. Moving to Coral Pointe had turned out to be the best decision heâd ever made. A close second was the day he chose me to share this life with him and Logan.
âI know, babe. Not gonna lie. I almost teared up when Sage and Levi asked if he could be a part of their wedding.â When theyâd originally figured out their plan, weâd all decided that Logan was probably too young to take part. But over the last few weeks, Sage and Levi had realized a new vision for their ceremony. One that focused on a way to include every person who was important to them.
âSame.â Hunter leaned up on his forearm and stared down at me. The love in his eyes took my breath away. âI want him to be a part of ours, too,â he whispered.
My heart skipped several beats. I studied his serious expression, feeling tears prick at the back of my eyes. âI want that, too.â
Hunter dropped his head to his chest and exhaled. âPhew. That makes this so much easier.â He leaned down and said to Logan, âTell Papa to close his eyes.â
Logan peered up at me, giving me a big toothy grin, and said, âClose eyes, Papa.â My mouth dropped open and I gaped at my family until Logan pushed up onto his knees and let go of Legs, repeating, âClose eyes.â
âOkay, okay.â I shut my eyes and heard a ruffle of the sheets then Hunter whispering something to Logan that I couldnât quite make out.
Logan excitedly tapped my arm. âOpen eyes!â
âOh my god,â I rasped, looking down at the red velvet box with wide eyes. My gaze shot up to Hunterâs, then Loganâs, and then helplessly fell back to that box. âWhatâs happening right now?â
Hunter blew out a deep breath. âI was going to plan a big thing, invite everyone like Levi did for Sage, but something about it just being the three of us felt right.â
I quickly sat up and leaned back against the headboard, my heart pounding in my chest. âOh my god,â seemed to be the only thing my brain could come up with.
âI didnât actually envision this happening while lying in bed, and Iâll gladly get down on one kneeâ ââ
âOh my god.â Yup, my brain to mouth abilities had clearly malfunctioned.
