BATTLE OF THE SUPERFREAKS

After Ahmad found me in bed with Tariq, the bottom fell out of my life. What was once a happy family with a Brady Bunch style existence transformed itself into the upper class version of Jerry Springer. Ahmad and I instantly separated. It got to a point where he couldn't even look at me without eye's filled with regret, fear, and a heart ripped apart in anger. Really I can't blame him. All I had done for our entire marriage was lie and cheat behind his back.

This day had to come. Fearing the worst was behind me, in a barrage of tears and gut wrenching pain, I exposed myself to him. I told him about my addiction and how I needed help. I ran down the list of damn near every man I had been with dating back to meeting him in college.

That may have been a mistake. My husband is very much an idealistic man that believes in rainbows, sunsets, positivity, and ideal black families. With my behavior, in addition to what just got exposed about our son online, I was turning us into a glorified bunch of hoodrats.

Ahmad had been reared hard in a negative environment, but despite that, due to the influence of strong, male, role models, was able to escape the shackles of poverty. He deserved a woman that didn't cheat on him, so everything he said to me in the heat of the moment I took without fuming.

In addition to the heart ache of the break up, I had to move in with my mother, leaving my husband in the house that lies and infidelity built. This may have been a more ideal situation if my mother weren't such an ice queen playing make believe in a minister's body.
