By the time lunch comes around, Addy has blown up my phone, freaking out over the insolence that is ‘stupid boys’ in our school. Her words, not mine.

“I’m over this shit. Do you think they would let me take classes online this year?” She pouts, flopping down on the chair across the table from me, and I chuckle at the confused looks on my guys faces.

“Pete and his friends were in her last class,” I explain, before looking at her. “And I doubt it. I don’t think we’re allowed to live our lives outside of this school until our ‘training’ is complete.”

She snorts, shoving a fry into her mouth.

To anyone outside of this school, it looks like it’s just dipped in ketchup, but it’s blood. The thought alone makes me want to gag, but she moans in pleasure.

Connerton, and her trainer from the previous summer, have been teaching her how to mask blood in different foods so she comes across as a normal human to her family and the world when she’s out of here.

“They can’t teach me anything the elder hasn’t. I think staying here for another year is just stupid,” she huffs out, and I chuckle.

“Hey, look at it this way… at least you get to see me every day.” I give her my best award-winning smile, and she softens, smiling back at me.

“I’m going to miss your bitch face when I leave.”

The table is quiet for a moment as we reflect on what comes next.

Gramps was able to track down her vampire family, so she can go be with her bloodline and stop feeling the emptiness and pull that has been inside of her since Paul turned her.

“Bitch, you aren’t going to get rid of me that easily.” I wink at her. “Besides, you may be far away, and cold. Do vampires get cold?” I tease, knowing she’s moving to Maine. Poor girl.

“Harls, you know the only temperatures I actually feel are extremes, and so far, I am unaware of something cold enough to affect me outside of nitroglycerin.”

I cackle, and she sticks her tongue out at me.

“That’s a new one,” Orion says, his eyes getting a dark glint in them, and I groan, knowing he’s thinking of new ways to torture people.

“Put a pin in that.” I give him a glare, but he just shrugs it off with a panty melting smile. “Grandpa sent me a massage today.” The smile drops off O’s face.

I wait for them to answer or respond, but no one does. They all just stare at me, so I continue. “He said to not be worried about the end decision. That he has plans for us to keep us together.”

Bry looks pissed, while Addy looks scared.

“He won’t keep me from my family, will he?” she asks, her voice barely above a whisper, and I shake my head.

“I won’t let him. I promise you, Adds, I will not let you suffer any more than you already have because of me and mine.” My voice is thick, and she sniffs, nodding and giving me a small smile.
