Chapter 25

~Aspen~

Conflicted inside, I hesitated outside our bedroom door.

I really didn’t want to sleep in the same bed as Roan but I knew his bed would be so much warmer than sleeping alone in the spare bedroom. Cuddling up to him was like sleeping next to a warm, cozy furnace and tonight I needed Roan’s warmth to soak into my bones and keep me warm. I could continue being mad at him tomorrow.

Swallowing my pride, I opened the door and listened. The room was completely dark and quiet. The only sound I heard being the regular rise and fall of Roan’s breathing. Making my way to my side of the bed, I quickly dropped my towel and climbed in next to him. With a soft, sleepy moan, he rolled away from me in his sleep.

Good, I didn’t want to look at him anyway.

The bed was toasty and comfortable as I pulled the covers up over my naked form, just as I knew they’d be. Sighing contentedly, I lay on my back and let Roan’s warmth seep through me.

Being close to Roan always did funny things to my body and tonight his proximity and his scent seemed to hit me even harder than it had any other night since Roan had blood bonded with me.

It was so maddening that he had such a hold over me, but there was absolutely I could do to help it. He was my mate and his blood flowed through my veins.

Sleeping or not, he still called to me on a cellular level. But I would fight it tonight. So, I screwed up my face and held my breath so I wouldn’t have to take his scent into my lungs.

Roan moved in the bed and suddenly his naked hip pushed up against me and touched the top of my bare leg. He came to bed naked? That untrustworthy jerk! He knew his nakedness would make it even more difficult for me to resist him.

My face was hot and flushed with both anger and desire. I was bristling with fight inside but something older and more potent was swaying my resolve .

Thankfully Roan was blissfully unaware of the struggle that waged inside of me. He hadn’t a clue and was irritatingly peaceful as he breathed softly beside me. So, rather than act on the lust filled images that filled my head, I just laid there and endured the bombardment of Roan’s pheromones.

God, I was horny. Damn my traitorous body!

I desperately wanted Roan buried deep inside me while he whispered wicked things into my ear. But, I was still too angry at what he had done to me to wake him up and tell him that my body was on fire for him.

Instead, I decided the only way I was going to get any relief was by taking matters into my own hands and bringing myself to orgasm.

My fingers snaked up and started to play with my nipples, rolling and pulling them until they were hard and aching. Of course, it was not as good as being touched by Roan’s big hands, but it would have to do.
