The common pressure generating mechanism seen in the U.S Gulf Coast wells is due to compaction disequilibrium but the log signatures in some wells of the Gulf of Mexico depicted the influence of unloading due to overpressure generation (Fig. 4.7; Bowers and Katsube 2002; Katahara 2006).
