Revenge Is The Best Medicine Given In Doses

Towanda

Iris and I were on our third glass of wine when my phone started vibrating. It was Trina, with her late ass.

“Hey, boo. Where you at? It's way past eight o’clock.” As I listened to her tell me she was running late and for us to drive ourselves, I got a little heated. She could have been told this before we got all tipsy. I hated driving when I was buzzed, and I already knew Iris’s lazy ass wasn't going to drive. That mass transit system in Baltimore had spoiled her ass. Iris detested driving now.

“I guess so,” I sighed. “Give me the directions again. You know I've never been to your new place,” I instructed Trina. Trina went on and on about how fun her party was going to be. “I doubt it. At your old wack ass parties,” I laughed.

Trina’s parties always turned out to be dull. Everyone always ended up leaving or falling asleep. People didn't even dance. She told me how different this party was going to be and to get ready for some fun and excitement. She was kind of hesitant about how Iris would react to it though. I wasn't concerned the least bit because I knew Trina’s shit was going to be wacked. Just like previously.

“Is this one of those sex toy parties? You know I hate them shits. Always too many women and not enough men.”

She promised me it wasn't and told me to hurry up. She wanted me and Iris to meet her new neighbor before the guests arrived. I usually wasn't down on bringing new chicks into our circle. It had been me, Iris and Trina since fucking diapers. But if Trina was willing to give her a chance, so was I. I told Trina we would be there in fifteen minutes.

“Come on, Iris. We gotta drive to Trina’s ourselves. I should have known she would pull some shit like this. I'm already fucked up.”

“Yea, you should have known. Well, she gotta wait until I roll this blunt. I’m a little tipsy myself, but a bitch trying to get higher.”

“Damn, yo. You have really turned into a weed head and alcoholic since you moved back here. Maybe you should slow down a little bit. Are you still taking them pills, too?”

“Look, Towanda, I don't want or need your lecture right now. I keep telling y'all to check y’alls own lives, before you try to check mine. Now let's go before I change my mind!” Iris shrieked before storming out the front door.

I grabbed up the weed that Iris had forgot because of her mini temper tantrum. I really didn't want to go to this party, either. I needed to take care of my lil’ problem. I had to make sure my secret didn't come out. I know if Iris ever found out, she would probably kill me. I hadn't even mentioned anything to Trina. I was too ashamed of what I had done. A lonely tear escaped my face as I thought back to that night.
