Those closest to the throne of God were those who gave themselves to intercession on earth As I approached the Judgment Seat of Christ, those in the highest ranks were also sitting on thrones that were all a part of His throne…it seemed that faithful, praying women and mothers occupied more thrones than any other single group.5

I believe this is so. Many people feel they don’t have a “full-time ministry,” but we all do—it is never ceasing to pray. Some of the most faithful with this mandate throughout the ages have been mothers and grandmothers to whom prayer is continuous as they go about raising the next godly generation. God asks us to “give Him no rest till He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth” (Isa. 62:7 NIV). We are all included in that directive.

The Moravians, unparalleled reformers and catalysts of revival and missions centuries ago, held continuous prayer sessions for more than 100 years. We would like to experience continuous prayer until the Lord returns. It may take on various forms and timelines over the years, but until the Kingdom is preached to all nations, we shall not cease to live a lifestyle of fasting and prayer (see Matt. 24:14).

Although not everyone is called to establish a Twenty-Four-Hour House of Prayer for All Nations, we can all do something. Perhaps 24/7 prayer can be done for a season, with church members signing up for time slots and praying from home so that all hours of the day are covered. God has led many churches to sponsor a weekly all-night prayer meeting. Surely regular corporate prayer meetings are vital. Some have joined with other churches (one group has more than 25 churches city-wide) to have 24-hour worship and prayer for the city.

The important thing is to do what you believe the Father is showing you to do in regard to prayer and to “follow the cloud” as He leads you.
