Something isn't right.

“Stop her,” interrupts Father’s voice through the intercom.

I put down my guitar, pick up my phone, and dial him.

“She’s in the next room resting, Father.”

“Not for long. Damon’s sending a car.”

“You’ve got cameras on in her room?”

“Of course.”

I roll my eyes, feeling sickened at the thought of Father watching Lyndi in private.

“I’ll handle it,” I say, hanging up.

Jax appears in my doorway. His blonde hair is messy, and he’s shirtless and in jeans—lipstick on his cheek and scratches on his arm.

“Could you be any more fucking obvious? I’ve got to go deal with something. In the meantime, I need you to take over sitting, Katie.”

He smirks at me. “Won’t be a problem.”

I narrow my eyes, realizing he may already be on task.

Leaving him, I go to the adjoining guest suite, where I find no sign of Lyndi.

Fuck.

Don’t go I tell her.

Go where? she lies. I sense that she is with Katie.

You’re not supposed to be alone with her.

It’s fine. She’s calmer.

Wait for me I say as I go downstairs to Katie’s room. I do not make eye contact with Katie when I enter the room. My only focus is Lyndi.

“We need to talk,” I say, holding my hand out to her. Her eyes widen. She senses that something is wrong. She licks her lips, seeming worried.

“Yes, I’m onto you,” I say in the hall before pulling her into another room. A room I make a habit of never going into. The Pink Room.

I press her back against the door, looking into her eyes. The sexy, conflicted look on her face makes me want to ravage her.

“So, even my room is bugged?”

I look down briefly. “Shh. Not by my doing. Now, listen,” I say reducing my voice to a whisper. “Tyson has his men waiting for whoever is coming for you.”

“Damon is my father, Xavier. I have to go where he is.”

I bring my hand to her arm, clutching it.

“This may be hard to hear. But I don’t trust Damon with you.”

She raises an eyebrow.

“Well, I don’t trust Tyson!"

“That’s understandable. But your judgment isn’t clouded by love for him like for Damon. Neither of them should be trusted.”

Her eyes flash with angry emotion.

“Then who the hell can I trust?”

I release her arm, cupping her chin in my hand before caressing its curve with my fingertips.

“Me,” I say simply, getting momentarily lost in the tears in her eyes. My gaze dips to her mouth.

Her lips part as she looks at me, uncertainty in her glossy eyes.

All I can do is kiss her, my lips claiming hers as I let her feel what words can’t quite describe.

That I meant what I said.

She's mine now.
