Unleash Your Creativity

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

GENESIS 1:1

The very first words in the Bible tell us that in the beginning, God created.

The Hebrew word is bara, which means “shape, form, fashion, or create.” It has a dynamic energy that is fluid and Spirit-breathed. Just like our Creator God, the word sparks the idea of boundless options and possibilities.

Since we are created in God’s own image, we possess some of this creative energy too. Is it any wonder that when we are worn out, our creativity is often one of the first things to suffer?

Often when I am running low on energy, I find myself creating less and consuming more. Less making, less writing, less innovating; more consuming TV shows, goods, and food.

But what a shame when we allow weariness to steal the God-given creativity in our souls by mindlessly zoning out!

Maybe you don’t think of yourself as creative; but you’re made in God’s image, so you absolutely are. Creativity can be conveyed through music or art or numbers or data or words or ideas or designs or something else entirely.

The truth is that it doesn’t really matter what form of expression it takes, just as long as you use what God’s put within you. Use it to bring joy to his heart, because that’s what you were created for.
