A Prime Position

The dictionary says neutral means, among other things, to be disengaged. Temporarily disconnected from the means of forward motion. A point of inactivity, energy gone to waste. Getting neutral, however, is not being neutral as we know it. You’re not separated from your power source; you’re not apathetic, indifferent, noncommittal, passive, detached, or disinterested in any way. Rather, you’re in a prime position for obtaining the true desires of your heart. Not only that, you find yourself more passionately engaged in decision-making than ever. Once you’ve come to this point, you’re fully connected to the greatest power in the universe. It’s where you truly start to engage the will of the One who knows the way to everything you want most.

This is one reason getting neutral is such an emphasis for me. Though it’s only one step in getting on pace with God, it’s impossible to discover God’s will if you do not fight through all the obstacles to reach this critical stage.

Getting neutral is what boosts your faith and advances you toward God’s answers just for you. Neutral becomes active once you’re finally operating at His speed. To actually get neutral connects you to the Lord in a way that nothing else does. Because you’re no longer relying on your own resources, you can more easily tap into His. You gain a newfound capacity for better choices in your life and work.

In my life with God, getting neutral means anything but being disengaged and powerless. It actually compels me to activity out of love for Him. It lets me draw on the strength and guidance of His Spirit and His Word, and in turn, reach solutions that are more creative, effective, and productive. The Reverend Crawford Loritts has said: “I guarantee if you spend your time in the Word of God, and there’s an attitude of yieldedness and surrender to those truths, there’ll be power in your life that you never . . . thought was available.”3
