Robin loved the feeling of the cold window's glass against her forehead as she looked out at the vultrich chirping and pecking in their new, protected habitat. The gardens of the Blood Oasis had been the perfect biome for a vultrich nesting sanctuary. It was only the first of many that Robin had planned now that she and Danny were the new managers of the club, but she had time. Eternity, in fact.

After the giant birds killed Nia for them, a few of Nia's conscripted vamps had joined Robin on her mission to save the vultriches. Seyah in particular was rabid about opposing construction projects and utility plants which threatened to harm the vultrich's habitat.

Danny fell onto the padded bench beside the window, breathing heavy after his last hour out on the dance floor. After they'd taken down Nia, Danny had called Christopher to stand down his troops. Christopher had come anyway to ensure that his sireling and the others were okay. Christopher had been everything Robin thought a king should be: considerate, commanding, and kind. He also immediately said he would fund Robin’s initiative to transport the vultrich nestlings to their new habitat.

"Any word from Samantha about the protection spell?" Danny asked. He hummed a little along with the music.

"It should be up any second now." Robin kissed his cheek. Since the grand reopening, they'd been experimenting with spells to protect their staff and clientele. Robin was overjoyed that her college roommate, Samantha, had gamely agreed to be their new head of magical security to finish working out the bugs.

Robin smiled as a flash of magic surged past her and into the fabric of the building itself. The dancers on the floor all cheered, grinding deeper into their partners.

"Want to test it out?" Danny asked.

Robin shook her head. "No need, I think we're about to see a live demonstration." She nodded toward Kendry at the bar, who was telling a stubby satyr she would not be joining him upstairs. The lovely vampire was one of the few who had decided to stay on as paid staff since she enjoyed most of the work and loved to dance. But a few of her former clients she'd been forced to entertain under the old management couldn't quite seem to understand that she was now able to say "no". The satyr started to make a grab for her, but she pushed him away. He teetered back on his hooves, and then...disappeared.

Robin swiveled to peer out the window, the satisfaction of success like a warm glow suffusing her skin. The misogynist was out past the front gates, jumping up and down and yelling. He banged against the opening of the driveway, but his fists struck against the invisible barrier, which would keep him out until Kendry decided to allow him in. Samantha's spell worked wonders at getting rid of those who weren't respectful of the rules.

"The new security system works perfectly, folks," Robin said into the walkie-talkie at her hip. She leaned forward to brush her lips against Danny's.
