Cernunnos was one of a range of deities common throughout pre-Roman Gaul, including Lugh (Mercury), Taranis (Jupiter), Maponos (Apollo), Brigit (Minerva), Ogmios (Hercules), Epona (the horse goddess), and a host of others local to a specific area or tribe (Cunliffe 2018: 277).
