“It’s kind of funny how you’re changing,” said John.

“Changing?” asked Kingston lifting his eyebrow.

“Not in a bad way, but in a good way,” John reassured him. “Shade has made quite an impression on you, and you’ve done the same for her. The both of you are learning how to love each other selflessly… That’s a good thing you know.” Kingston thought about John’s words for a moment.

“It is… That’s why we’re about to go get my baby.”

4:30 am

“Good morning Shade,” said George standing in front of Shade. “Good morning George,” Shade replied, grabbing her foot, bringing it up to her butt. She was stretching out, getting ready for her morning run.

“We’re going to do someting a little different dis morning, mon” said George. “I want you to run ‘til you find da road. I want you to count your steps da minute you start running, mon. And you’re gonna carry dis backpack da entire time. You can’t take it off until you get back here, mon. Do you understand?”

“Yes sir,” Shade replied bending over, touching the ground. She had plans on getting up out of here tonight, and Daddy Dearest is giving her the road map to do it.

I guess my soon to be father in-law likes me, thought Shade. He’s helping me figure out how to escape, right up under Chauncey’s nose. The two guards who followed Shade, came out of the house. They walked up on George and Shade, as she continued to stretch out.

“Put dis on your back, mon,” said George handing Shade the backpack.

“We need to check da bag,” said one of the guards. George turned and glared at him.

“Who da fuck are you talking to, mon?” questioned George frowning.

“I understand da disapproval, King George, sir. But, I have to make sure dere’s noting’ in da bag to help her escape. We have very specific instructions, mon, and if we don’t follow dem, dey are punishable by death, per Chauncey,” the guard explained. George looked at him and opened the bag. Inside were three hardback books.

“I’m trying to build up her strength, mon. Shooting dat shit up your arm isn’t good for ya, and I have to get her back healthy and strong,” George explained.

“Are you sure you’re not trying to kill me?” Shade smirked. George looked at Shade and smiled at her.

“Dear heart, you will thank dis old man one day,” said George winking. Shade smiled as she put her headphones in her ears.

“If I could, mail my heart right to you I would… I’d wrap it up, seal it tight, and I’ll send it overnight…” pushed through Shade’s head phones as she slid the backpack on.

Zhane’s “Sending My Love” is the perfect song, thought Shade. Because I’m leaving this motherfucker tonight, and I’m going home to daddy.
