I don’t need convincing.

When Mallory shows up at my door in a crop top that bares a sliver of her midriff and skin tight jeans that hug her waist and make the lush roundness of her belly even more prominent asking if I want to come on a ride with her, I say yes immediately. And it doesn’t matter that we don’t have anything planned or that, thanks to spending all of December trying to teach Teresa how to drive, I have a slight passenger seat phobia.

The only thing that matters is that she wanted an adventure today, and she came to me. I tell myself not to read too much into it. Remind myself there are several good reasons why she chose me instead of Sloane, Eric or Nic.

They’re all busy.

I’m her fake boyfriend, so it might look weird for her to be doing whatever we’re going to do without me. She probably felt obligated to invite me because of the big deal I made about not knowing about her self-defense classes.

This might have something to do with her ex, which means I, the only person in her life who knows what he is to her, was her only option.
