The electrical drive control system uses the field-oriented control principle. The components of the full SM current IT and IM are controlled; the former component is aligned in the direction of the supplying voltage space vector and is responsible for the active power; the latter is aligned perpendicular to the former and is responsible for the reactive power; to secure a better effectiveness, the reference I*M = 0. As for the reference I*T, it is defined by the output of the speed controller (or torque reference) divided by the stator flux module.

For the computation of the components IT and IM, knowing the full SM current Is, it is necessary to know the angle position α of the supplying voltage space vector Vs. At this, α = θ + δ, where θ is the rotor angle and δ is the torque angle that can be calculated as
