FROM his mountaintop haven, Luther Ethridge sat in a comfortable chair by the window, looking out at
the magnificent view spread out below him.
It was early in the morning, and as he watched fluffy white clouds drifting across the blue sky, he felt like
a king surveying his domain. He was rich enough to be a king. And when he had the Woodlocks begging
for mercy, his satisfaction would be complete.
It was easy to imagine what that would be like, because he was already well along in the process.
His mind went into a little fantasy about the woman in his tower room. The woman who looked so much
like Olivia that even he couldn't tell the difference. Jesus, that gas he pumped into the room was
wonderful. He could do any damn thing with her that he wanted. Just thinking about what he was going to
do next made him hard as a rock.
Leaning back in the chair, he unzipped the fly of his slacks and reached inside, stroking his fingers against
his enormous boner.
Then the phone rang.
"Fuck."
He didn't want to be interrupted. He wanted to enjoy his fantasy. Then he looked at the number on the
Caller ID and a new surge of excitement coursed through his veins.
Snatching up the phone, he demanded, "What do you have for me?"

"I think I know where Olivia and the fiance are going."
"You think?"
"She didn't say. But Colin has been trying to track them. I know from what he's been doing on the
computer."
"You got into his files?"
"He left some notes beside the machine. I copied down the important information." The voice on the
other end of the line began reeling out facts.
"Not so fast. Let me write it down." He jumped up, forgot his pants were unzipped, and had to pull
himself back together as he wedged the phone between his ear and his shoulder, then grabbed a notepad
from the drawer in the drum table beside the sofa.
"Okay. Give it to me slowly," he ordered.
"I don't have much time," the person on the other end of the line complained.
"That's your problem, not mine." He took down the information. It didn't make a lot of sense, but his
informant had never been wrong.
"How's Colin's health?" he asked when he had the gist of the material.
"His energy level is dropping. He's spending more time in bed."
"Good."
"I have to go. Sorry."
The connection went dead.
"Shit!" Luther stared at the receiver, longing to dial back and demand some explanations. Instead, he
settled for staring at his notes as his mind formulated new plans.
