Personalizing Your Tracker
Depending on the person, some elements from each list could be flipped to other sections. For example, “packing a lunch for work” could be an element of a work tracker, or it could be part of your health tracker.
For your habit tracker, intend to select anywhere from 20 to 30 options to track each month.
If you create specific trackers, plan on adding 5 to 20 items to track and monitor regularly.
Trackers and Collections
What is the difference between trackers and collections? Trackers manage information within a set amount of time. They track a behavior that is performed routinely and/or consistently.
Collections, on the other hand, are typically organized lists that can serve as inspiration or give you the ability to track whether you’re doing something on your list. Some collections can even get super specific as to what information you’re logging within the system.
To compare trackers and collections, let’s use the example of buying presents for holidays.
A holiday present tracker would monitor the people you need to buy presents for, their presents, if you purchased them, and how much each present cost. This is typically done over a specific amount of time, though this is technically a seasonal tracker for most (unless you’re one to purchase presents through the entire year, which is always a possibility!).
A holiday present collection would serve as a list of ideas for presents you could purchase or create for each person. This collection is flexible and has no date attached. As soon as somebody mentions something they want, you could write this down on a collection list. You don’t have to buy everything mentioned on this list, and this list could be expanded upon and kept for a long, indeterminate amount of time.
