ACCIDENTS
Tram accidents were major news stories in the 1900s, with the scene always recorded by local photographers and the results often turned into postcards.
Above and Below: The steep descent to the harbour on Madeira Road, Ramsgate, was an accident blackspot for the Isle of Thanet Tramways. On 3 August 1905 a tram crashed through the wall on the curve to the left and plunged down to the lower level. Amazingly, the driver was the only person to be badly injured.
