In July 1997, Class 55 Deltic D9000 Royal Scots Grey was given a test run prior to its being rostered to work a Saturday Ramsgate to Edinburgh service for a short summer period. In conjunction with Class 47 47827, it is seen near South Stoke in July 1997, hauling a morning Paddington to Manchester Piccadilly express, catching me completely unawares!
