Elton had no idea what the fuck was going on.

They were in the middle of the sidewalk, people walking past them and looking at them, since they were blocking the way. Elton was hugging Rabbit in a stupid attempt to keep him safe or something like that, while Samuel looked like he wanted to pound Rabbit’s father into the ground even though the man was huge.

He cleared his throat, immediately regretting it when both Samuel and Rabbit’s father looked at him. “Umm, we probably should take this somewhere more private.”

He didn’t know what Rabbit meant when he’d asked his father to stop kidnapping his friends, but it couldn’t be a good thing. Even with the little he knew about Kameron and the way he led the pack, he knew staying in the middle of Main Street wasn’t a good idea. Someone from the pack was bound to see them or to hear about them, and it wouldn’t take long for Kameron to find out and send his men or a pack of rabid wolves to get Rabbit’s father.

Rabbit crossed his arms over his chest, and just from that, Elton knew he was going to be a stubborn ass. “I’m not going anywhere with him.”

“He’s your father.”

“And he’s working with the humans who burned Samuel’s house down and kidnapped Neriah. Would you want to go anywhere with him?”

Probably not, but Elton already knew what Rabbit was going to say if that was his answer. “We can’t stay here, though.”

“The garage,” Samuel said.

“What?”

“My brother Andy is a mechanic. He has a garage here in town. He won’t mind if we use his office to talk.” Samuel’s gaze slid to Rabbit. “That way you can be sure your father isn’t going to hurt you. Andy will be there, and Elton and I won’t leave your side.”

“I’m not going to hurt my son,” Rabbit’s father said, but Elton wasn’t sure what to think. He knew abusive fathers, had lived most of his life with one, and Rabbit’s father didn’t look like one, or at least, what Elton was used to. He looked like he just wanted his son to go home, and while Rabbit was obviously against doing that, it might be a good idea for them to talk.

Rabbit’s father might try to kidnap someone else if they didn’t, and with the way he was staring at Elton, Elton thought it might be him.

“Let’s go, okay?” Elton said, gesturing at the sidewalk. “Samuel, why don’t you take the lead, since none of us know where the garage is.”

Samuel looked like he wanted to argue, but instead, he gestured at Rabbit’s father to walk next to him. Rabbit’s father looked both amused and worried, a smile playing on his lips and a frown on his forehead, but he followed after giving Rabbit one last glance.

Rabbit stayed where he was until Elton stepped next to him and took his hand, pulling him along. He noticed Samuel taking his phone and fiddling with it, but decided to focus on Rabbit.
