Gina sat patiently in the reception area in Alex’s office. She flipped through an outdated magazine while she waited.

“Did you do it?” Gina asked after Purple walked out of the bathroom.

“Yes, it’s in my purse.” Purple tapped the side of her purse that was on her shoulder. “I put the top on it and I’m gonna wait a few minutes before I look at it.”

“Alex is ready for you. You can go into his office now.” Alex’s secretary said, unintentionally interrupting Purple and Gina’s conversation.

“Okay.” Gina stood up along with Purple and then they walked toward Alex’s office door.

Gina tapped on door and waited for a response.

“Come in.” Alex stood up as his office door opened. “Good morning ladies.” He said after Purple and Gina walked in the office and closed the door behind them. Purple looked stunning in her dress. ‘Damn, did she wear that on purpose to remind me that she’s not mine’? He figured he was being quite presumptuous.

“Good morning.” Purple and Gina said in unison. They both took a seat in front of Alex’s desk.

“Alex, before we begin, I need you to know that you overstepped your boundaries when you kissed me, and it better not happen again. The only thing between us is business.” Purple sternly stated.

“Yes, I apologize. I was wrong. It won’t happen again. It was very unprofessional.” Alex was sympathetic.

“Yes it was,” Gina interjected. “She has a man, and only because you have already started investigation on finding our mother’s rapist are Purple and I allowing you to continue with the case.” She said indignant. “So unless you want your unprofessionalism reported and a butt whooping from her man, you better back off!”

Purple and Alex looked at Gina in shock. Purple was impressed with her sister sticking up for her. Alex took her warning seriously.

“Okay, so what is it you wanted to meet with us about?” Purple asked in an attempt to tame the beast about to be unleashed in Gina.

Alex sat down, relieved that things seemed to be okay between him and Purple. He was sorry for kissing her, and more so because she was taken. He couldn’t say that he didn’t enjoy their brief encounter. He’d imagined what it would be like to kiss her from the day he bumped into her at the spa. If she had not pushed him away and stop their embrace he would have enjoyed taking their kissing all the way. He won’t allow it to happy again though. He was surprised Logan hadn’t come to hunt him down so that meant she probably didn’t tell him. Good, because he didn’t want the drama and kissing her was a mistake. It was a mistake he replayed in his mind often.

Alex opened up a file on his desk and looked at a few quick notes. “I believe I may have found the man you believe raped your mother.”

“You did?” Purple asked in disbelief. Of course she had hoped to find him, but hearing that he possibly did was a bit of a shock.
