The basic software requirements are Windows and Video for Windows or Windows Movie Maker. Beyond that, you need software to develop the individual pieces of your presentation and authoring software to put it all together.
Creating and editing images, sound, and text
Your first task is to construct the various images, video clips, audio clips, and slides that will make up your presentation. The following list shows you the software you need:
Graphics: Graphics software ranges from simple tools, such as Paintbrush (which comes with every copy of Windows), to high-powered packages such as Photoshop and CorelDRAW!. Two of the more popular programs for image creation are Persuasion and PowerPoint. Both offer lots of help for the nonprofessional designer – so your slides won’t end up with words written in 12 different fonts and 8 different colours.
Audio and video: You also need special software for capturing and editing the audio and video clips that you want to use in your presentation. Almost any sound card or video capture card comes with recording and editing software that covers your basic needs. Adobe’s Premier is among the better-known software products for editing video clips.
Text: Most word-processing packages are capable of tagging your word-processing files for multimedia access. Your multimedia-authoring tool determines how this should be accomplished.
