Chapter 43

Fuzzy-Headed

Everything falls apart as his fangs sink into my neck. My hands drag upward, tearing at his arms. I can smell his blood from my marks, but right now, I don’t care, and it doesn’t seem like he cares, either. As I wrap my arms around his neck once more, Merick thrusts his hips forward, slamming into me. My walls cave around his dick, holding him tight, and he groans, the sound sending a shiver down my spine. He thrusts forward, deeper into me, and I feel my head fall back.

Everything is so fuzzy. My body, him, everything. Even the normal buzzing noises in my head have all but vanished. My hips move with his as he begins to rock back and forth. Oh goddess, I don’t want this to end. I want to give him everything.

I want to love Merick Pine. More than any other woman has ever done. I want to be his, to fall to my knees in front of him and beg him to marry me, to bear his children, and form a life with him. I never want to be without him.

“Oh goddess.” I moan.

He thrusts harder, faster, and I clutch tighter, my legs wrapping around his waist, desperate for us to not slip and fall yet. I don’t want this to end; it can’t end. It mustn’t fucking end—

Push him off. Whitney, push him off! The voice is loud in my mind and startles me, pausing me for a moment. I can feel the pressure, the desperate need to release. Oh goddess, I need him to keep going so I can release. Why does it have to stop?

Whitney, push him off!

The command yanks my arms from around his neck, and I shove my palms against his cheek, pushing him back. His fangs rip from me, and everything returns tenfold. At his release, my legs unwind themselves, and I crash to the floor of the tub, slipping before tumbling over the edge, my head slamming into the granite ground.

“Jupiter!” Merick’s shout is loud, thunderous in my ears over the roaring from the crash.

I squeeze my eyes shut as my vision swims, but I don’t move. Fingers grab at me, tugging me up, and I open my eyes, yellow dots flashing in my vision. Reaching up, I press my palm to the back of my head.

“Honey?”

I glance up at him, wrinkling my nose. “I’m fine.” I huff, pulling out of his hold to stand up straight.

Black blood covers his chin and neck, and turning through the condensation on the mirror, I can see it trickling down my neck, too. Merick’s fingers brush over my shoulder, but I pull away.

“Turn off the water,” I tell him, pulling my gaze away from the mirror. “I should get dressed. I have work tonight.”

“It’s barely ten in the morning—”

“Yep,” I mumble as I leave the bathroom, my cheeks burning so hot they dry my skin.

In the bedroom, I eye the bedside table and my all-but-forgotten breakfast that has now gone cold.
