In the above equation, β and m are constant parametric values. Upon inspection of the Carreau equation, we may observe that at low shear rates, we have Newtonian behavior where viscosity is a constant value.

At high shear rates, we notice that the Carreau equation simplifies to the power law model.

If we define a new parameter n which appears in the exponent term, whereby n − 1 = − 2m, we get back the form of the power law model where k is a constant such that k = [η0(βn − 1)].
