HART
After seeing Roulette interact with my brother and his family, it further assured me that pursuing her was what I wanted to do. Hell, even if I didnât, that pussy was going to have me coming back for more. Beauty had me feeling like a crackhead the way I was feigning for that fat, wet muthafucka. If somebody wouldâve said Hart Gamble would be out here turning into a simp behind a thick bitch with cornbread fed hips, Iâd say they were a muthafuckinâ lie. But for Roulette Boucree, I would be the simpest of simps.
Thatâs why I was currently sitting in the gym at the local Boys & Girls Club, waiting on Nolan Franklin. It took a lot of convincing, but Spade and Cassina had finally talked me into bringing my black ass down here to at least meet the kid. Noticing a basketball on the gym floor, I picked it up and slowly dribbled it a few times. Placing my feet in the perfect jump shot position, I aimed for the net. Swoosh!
Jogging to grab the ball, I made a few more baskets. Basketball was in my DNA and the entire city knew it too. When I was in highschool, I was one of the NBAâs top recruits. Senior yearâs homecoming game, I suffered an injury to my Achilles tendon that took me out for the rest of the season. After months of extensive physical therapy, scouts had moved on and Hart Gamble had faded away. It took years for me to get over being jaded, and I had to really sit down and refocus my energy.
âHart..â I heard from behind me, breaking my train of thought.
Turning around, I came face to face with Roulette and who I assumed to be Nolan. I had to do a double take because there was no way that this lilâ nigga was only sixteen. He was damn near as tall as me and I stood at almost six foot four inches. Nolan had to be every bit of six feet already.
âWhatâs up, lilâ man? Iâm Hart Gamble. You must be Nolan?â I spoke as I extended my hand out to him. Noticing his hesitation to shake it, I eyed Roulette suspiciously before drawing my hand back.
âSo you like super rich, right?â Nolan asked. Damn, lilâ homie was getting straight to it.
âDepends on what you consider rich.â I responded while shrugging my shoulders.
âShit.. I mean, shoot.. If you drive that Porsche Cayenne I saw in the parking lot, then yeah, you rich foâ sho.â Nolan grinned.
âSo, thatâs all it takes is for a person to drive an expensive car to be rich? What about being rich in mindset?â I questioned.
âWhat you mean by that?â Nolan asked curiously.
âLike, what if a man doesnât have a lot of money yet, but he has a way of thinking that could make him rich? Is he still considered rich?â
âNahhhh âcause he ainât got no money.â Nolan scoffed.
âWrong. In fact, heâs probably richer than the man with the money.
