APPLICATION EXERCISE:

Learning to Recognize the Call of Eros

Sitting comfortably, begin by breathing into your heart and out through your solar plexus, thinking back over the call of eros in your life in romantic love, particularly, or in other loves that have had that kind of charge for you, and what you have learned through increasing your powers of discernment. Pick one memory that calls to you now. Then breathe in memories of the joys it gave you and breathe out its pains, letting them go. Looking back, notice what this experience taught you about being true to yourself (or not) in relationship and how you grew as a result of it. Continue until this feels done, and then allow yourself to become aware of where eros is calling you now. As you breathe in, imagine scenes of your desires being fulfilled, and then breathe out the fears that would get in the way of following them. Repeat until you feel that the process is complete.
