CHAPTER SEVEN

PRINCE BERND

I considered the notion that I might be under a spell. What else could explain my inability to keep my hands and mouth to myself where Saer was concerned? His scent, the taste of him, the feel of his skin was all I could think about. Never had I desired anyone so badly. It made no sense to me. Yes, he was kind, sweet, and brave, with an infectious smile and a laugh that was hard to ignore. He was… light. A beacon in the darkness. He had completely captivated me in every way.

“Oh Goddess! Bernd!”

My name tumbling off his lips sent a shiver through me every time. The sweet taste of his lips made me groan, and I moved against him as if my body was not my own. “You’re so beautiful.”

He shook his head, but I wouldn’t allow it. I brought my mouth down on his, my tongue demanding entrance, which he swiftly gave. Our tongues dueled, and I willed him to listen, not to my words, but to our slick bodies as we moved against each other, to the way I squeezed his fingers in mine. He was extraordinary. Everything about him was beautiful.

“Saer…”

“Yes, please,” Saer panted.

His pleas filled the air as I chased the rolling wave of ecstasy that thundered through me. My hoarse shout filled the room just as I filled his tight channel, my essence becoming one with his body. I fought my instinct to claim him as my mate. All I could offer him at this moment was pleasure, even though something in me wanted so much more from him, wanted to give him so much more. I palmed his gorgeous erection, and a heartbeat later Saer was shouting my name, spilling himself between us. I kissed him again until a chill swept through the room, and he shivered beneath me. I pulled back, my heart jumping into my throat at his beautiful face. His lips were red and swollen from our kissing, his dark eyes struggling to stay awake as he let out a little sigh of contentment.

“Sleep,” I whispered, kissing his cheek. Lifting onto my arms, I made to move, but he grabbed my arm, his eyes filled with fear. “It’s all right. I’m only going to get something to clean us up with. I’m not going anywhere.” He immediately relaxed, and my heart swelled, knowing he wanted to keep me close. He released me, and I left him in bed and fetched a warm cloth. When I returned, I couldn’t help but stand by the bed and take a moment to watch him sleep, his curls a wild mess against his pillow. His peaceful expression, the way his plump lips were slightly parted, and the hand that lay over his heart made something tighten in my chest.

Careful so as not to wake him, I gently cleaned him up. When I was done in the bathroom, I didn’t hesitate. I climbed into bed beside him, pulled the covers over us, and tucked him into my side.
