ELDRESS

THE FAEDRA

They are giants with loose pale skin that hangs from their bones in thick folds and have small gossamer wings that allow them to fly for short distances. They don’t have eyes or noses, but they do have big mouths full of large sharp teeth.

When they lived on Aeon, the Faedra dwelled in the forests and looked after the trees and plants. When it rained, their bodies would absorb it and swell up like giant balloons. They’d then store and use the water to care for their gardens, their bodies deflating as the water was depleted.

Faedra are solitary creatures whose sole focus is to create and maintain beautiful gardens. They do marry, but even the most affectionate couples will still live in their own separate gardens. When expecting a child, they create a brand-new garden and live there until the child is old enough to be on their own. They will then leave the child to live in the garden they made for them and return to their own.

The Faedra are peaceful creatures with a culture limited to their love of plants. They do not sing, they do not dance, and they do not even write as they have no written language. They communicate only in whispers because they believe loud noises upset their plants. They do not eat any meat or animal product, choosing to survive off the fruits and nuts that they get from their gardens.

Although they are a gentle race, they are fiercely protective of both their children and gardens. Any person foolish enough to disturb either will face the full wrath of a Faedra’s power, which is the incredible ability to manipulate space and time. Trespassers will find themselves aging fifty years or more in a blink. The edges of a Faedra’s garden are marked with skeletons of previous intruders that are left there as a warning.

If someone needs to call on a Faedra, they must bring a new seedling or plant as an offering and apology for trespassing. It is also rumored they can be appeased with gardening tools, wind chimes, or peanut butter.
