Before we venture further into the Arbuckle Mountains, we are going to make another stop near the town of Springer. Not far to the northwest of town is a place called Magnetic Hill. It is said that if a person stops their car at the bottom of this hill and places the car in neutral, the car will begin to roll uphill! This unusual phenomenon has been seen at other locations where there are magnetic or gravitational anomalies. These anomalies could be caused by the intersection of energy lines.

The Arbuckle Mountains are located in southern Oklahoma near the town of Ardmore. These mountains are the oldest known formation between the Appalachians and the Rocky Mountains. They also have the most diverse number of mineral resources in Oklahoma – limestone, dolomite, granite, shale, iron ore, lead, zinc, glass sand, oil and glass. Granite is at the core of this mountain range. An aquifer sits under the Arbuckle Mountains and the myriad of springs located there tap into this aquifer. This water has seeped through the cracks and fractures in the rocks here creating many caves and sinkholes. It is rumored that some of the caves were used by outlaws like Jesse James to hide from the authorities. Rumors and tales of lost gold and buried treasure in the Arbuckles are as common as the strange lights seen in the skies and the ‘hairy giants’ seen in the forests.
