One particular famous Swedish singer was a Christian, and she began to travel with us. Swedish television stations got involved, and lots of publicity surrounded us. It was a phenomenal time. Years later a Swedish friend of mine showed me a high school textbook from her Swedish school. In it was a picture of me wearing this granny dress, with Lonnie and other team members making the “One Way!” sign. The caption said, “A finger to the sky is the new sign.” It was an article about how our time in Sweden was the biggest revival in Swedish history. It was amazing. Literally, places were so full that people would try to climb through or sit in open windows in these big churches just to hear us.

One night our team was ministering in a huge Cathedral and in a giant outdoor sports arena at the same time, and both venues were full. Again, our hosts shuttled us between the two locations so that we could be at both places live. Lonnie would give an altar call, and people would just bolt out of their seats. I gave it on some occasions because the team would be split in different spots. We would pray with people for a long time after our services. We even learned a few Swedish phrases so we could reach out to the Swedes in their own language.

We rode first class around the country, singing on the trains, meeting people from all over the world, finding out about their lives, and of course, sharing the Good News. It was normal stuff for us, and yet it was so supernaturally huge. I look back wondering, “How did that happen?” Simple answer: The Holy Spirit made it happen. Not one of us in our own strength had the know-how or the capability to do that. There was a sovereign work of God going on at that time, and all we had to do was say, “Yes, we’ll be there.” I’ve been back to Sweden many times since then, and it is so interesting to see the impact of that first trip we went on over there.

After our mission to Sweden, we returned to London. We were invited to a meeting in a large hall near Westminster Abbey and Parliament. There were several bishops and priests on the stage, all wearing their long cassocks that looked like dresses to people unfamiliar with clerical robes. Lonnie sat on the stage with them. At first it was like, “Well, who’s this long-haired hippy walking into this situation with these theological experts,” but they were all pretty nice. The religious leaders did not put Lonnie down. They were quite kind and polite. Our team sat in the audience, surrounded by a bunch of people who were throwing tomatoes at these guys. I had never seen anything like that. It was pretty entertaining.

Later I was asked to sing at the first ever Festival of Light in Hyde Park. There were approximately eighty thousand people in the crowd.
