Chapter Thirteen

She mainly didn't want to hear I told you so. Jas was dead set against Jah getting with Spook. Spook wasn't a bad guy, he just had issues. Jah wanted so badly for him to work them out so they could be happy. While he didn't hit her like he did that first night, he did slap her every now and then. Not hard enough to cause damage or draw blood, but it did leave her hurt and dazed. He was stressed. His lovemaking even changed. He was so sweet and attentive at first. Now, he was rough and quick like he had to get it over with. Jah didn't know what was bothering him or had him so stressed. She wanted the old Spook back.

Jah had been staying at Spook's house for a few months now. It was lonely in that big house by herself. All she ever did was mope and cry. Jas rarely had time for her. With all the doctor’s appointments she had and her spending time with Marco, she only had time to text or call her. She at least made sure to call every day, if only briefly. Jasmine's mom and stepdad were getting an addition added to their house for Jas, Marco, and the baby. Lisa didn't want Jas to move out. She knew how hard being a mother was so she wanted to be there for her baby girl. Jas was all fine with that. The new addition was going to be ready just in time for when the baby came along. Even though they chatted daily, Jah and Jas haven't seen each other since the baby shower.

Jah practically had to drag Spook to the baby shower. He had made it clear that he didn't want to go. When they arrived, he quickly went to the corner with all the other uncomfortable men and refused to join in when it was game time. Jah was a little disappointed but at least he was there. Spook tried to be there for Jah when need be but he didn't like to do much of shit. He liked to work. Going out and having what folks like to call a good time wasn't his thing. He'd do it every now and then. The most you'd see him hanging out was when he'd go to a strip club. Even there he only got a lap dance and had a few drinks. He didn't even go to night clubs.

When the shower was over, he dropped Jah off at home and headed to the trap. He needed to be with his boys and chop up some dope. He had to get his hands dirty. His phone buzzed and it was a text from a shorty he met at the strip club the other night. If he remembered correctly, she had a phat ass and banging titties! She had given him head in the back of his truck the first night. She wanted to fuck but he made a lame excuse about picking his sister up from work and that he'd catch her next time.
