Chapter 6

Feeling Kiara’s body stiffen underneath his lips, Alec lifted his head again. He felt super-sensitive to her responses, wanting to make sure they didn’t inadvertently push her into anything she wasn’t ready for or misinterpret any signals she was sending.

"What's wrong, gorgeous?" he asked. His stag was impatient but also willing to wait, not wanting to accidentally drive their shy mate away. If she wanted to stop right now, he would. No matter how much his cock ached.

"I..." Her eyes darted between him and Gavin, who had just finished pulling his pants off but was now frozen, waiting for the verdict. "I'm not sure I should say..."

She still looked worried, but the teasing had obviously helped her gather her courage.

"My doe thinks you're her mates," she whispered softly, averting her gaze as if afraid to see his or Gavin's expressions.

Staring down at her, Alec was dumbfounded. He could sense Gavin was equally at a loss. Fortunately, before the silence could stretch on for too long, his stag nudged him.

Say something! The order from his deer jolted in his head, followed by a mental mutter that felt suspiciously like stupid human.

"Well, yeah..." he said, and then wanted to wince because seriously, could he have less game? Oh, right, of course he could. He could be Gavin.

"Oh, sweetheart," Gavin said, leaning over to kiss Kiara's cheek, which resulted in her looking up towards him so he could kiss her lips.
