Pictured is the mighty Tent of Tomorrow on a windy, rainy day in 2013; note its colorful roof panels are long gone. During the world’s fair, the New York State pavilion was a feast of lights in the evening. Vertical lights highlighted each column, and 500-watt lights illuminated the roof panels from behind. Street luminaires, in the foreground at left, added to the festive atmosphere. These lamps were arrangements of cubes color coded for the different areas of the fair and configured in many ways. They bring to mind the Rubik’s Cube, introduced at the 1982 world’s fair in Knoxville, Tennessee.
