Chapter Fifteen

Leonardo

When we arrive at the club, there are many cars in the parking lot. Augustus and Beto both look concerned. We exit the car, looking around as we enter the club. Laramie meets us right away.

“I thought we were keeping this closed for a while,” he says.

“We are,” Augustus answers. “Why is it open?”

“Brooklyn said you sent him a note to reopen.”

“Who is that?” I ask.

“Brooklyn is a trusted friend and an excellent manager,” Beto explains.

The farther we walk in, the louder the music gets. It is packed in here. Wall-to-wall people. Every seat is full. Men dance together. Others feed and fuck on the couches. The energy is more intense than the first time I was here.

Presley glances around with wide eyes. “Whoa.”

“I know.”

Augustus turns toward us. “Wait by the bar for me. Stay close to each other. I will be back soon.”

I nod, leading my friend in that direction. Beto, Laramie, and Augustus head to the back. I spot Willem with a cute guy on his lap. Next to him is Pietro, sipping from a glass filled with a deep-red liquid. Geoffrey is dancing with someone, his lips locked onto the man’s neck. Well, at least they are having fun.

“What will you have?” the bartender asks.

“Uh, whatever is popular,” I answer.

He grins, nodding. Two drinks appear in front of us seconds later. They have a pink tinge to them, but when I take a sip, it’s very fruity in flavor.

“Yum,” Presley says.

“Yes.”

Augustus appears from the back. His face is tense, but otherwise, he seems okay.

“What are you drinking?” he asks.

“No clue. Bartender made them.”

Augustus leans over the bar, chatting with the bartender before he frowns and shakes his head.

“What’s wrong?” I ask.

“You are drinking the house cocktail. It has blood in it.”

Presley spits his mouthful out across the room. “Fuck.”

“You are in a vampire bar.”

“But, but it tastes fruity.” I look at my glass. “Blood? Whose?”

“A donation.” He glances around. “Speaking of, I need to feed, and then we will go.”

I put my glass down, pulling my head back. “You’re going to feed?”

“Yes. I need the boost and mental clarity. Please find a safe place to sit.” He walks off before I can object further.

If he thinks I’m going to stand here and watch him suck some other dude’s neck after what we shared today, he’s smoking something. I start in his direction when Presley grabs my arm.

“What are you doing, Leo?”

“I’m not letting him feed from anyone but me.”

Presley’s eyes open wide. “What? Have you let him feed from you?”

“No. Why not me though?”

“Because you’re a witch.”

“So? I’m not poisonous.”

“Shit. You’re catching feelings, Leo. Aren’t you?”

I nod, crossing my arms over my chest. “I think so.”

“You can’t. He’s a vampire. We can’t go there.”

“Why not? Because of some centuries-old rule? I feel something with him. Something different and special. I can’t ignore it, Pres.”

He frowns but squeezes my hand. “I’ll always support you, Leo. Just be careful. We could be playing with fire.”

“We? You like Beto too?”

“Not like.
