Chapter Ten

The Big Meeting

After going to the mall with my Auntie and my mother, I feel a little bit more comfortable about meeting Raymone’s daughter. Of course, I go a little overboard buying things for her. But little girls have so many cute things available, so I end up buying her three outfits, with shoes and all of the accessories to match.

I don’t know why I am so nervous to meet a little girl, but I am. I called Mone about ten minutes ago, to let him know that I am pulling up. I finally decide to get out the car. Grabbing the bags from out of the backseat, I walk the short walk to his apartment. I steady my breath, before I knock on the door.

“I was about to put together a search party for you. What took you so long to come in?” Raymone asks, as he gives me a big hug and a kiss on my cheek.

“My mother called me. Her and my sister are going through it right now,” I lie.

I see his daughter sitting on the love seat and she is staring in our direction. She is even cuter in person.

The pictures that he showed me don’t do her any justice. She looks just like Raymone and his mother. The only difference was that she had a skin tone like her mother, which is a honey brown complexion.

“Come over here, Stinky Butt,” Raymone says to his daughter.

“This is my girlfriend, Yakeemah. Yakeemah this is the love of my life, Shayla.”

I bend down, so that I am eye leveled with her.

“Hey, Shayla, your daddy talks about you all of the time.”

“Hi, Ms. Yakeemah; I think that you’re pretty.”

“Thank you so much. I think that you’re pretty too. I bought you some things. Would you like to see them?”

“I sure would. I like her, Daddy.”

I laugh, as I hand her the bags. She rushes over to the love seat and begins to take all of the clothes and other things out of the bags. I can tell that she loves everything that I bought for her, because she has the biggest smile on her face.

“You didn’t have to buy her anything, Ya-Ya.”

“I know that I didn’t have to, but I wanted to. All girls love gifts.”

“Are you trying to give me a hint or something?” He questions, as he wraps his arms around my waist.

“No, but just know that I wear a size 14/16 and my favorite colors are red and black. My shoe size is an eight and love, love, love me some diamonds.”

“Don’t worry, Ma. I’ve got a surprise waiting for you in the bedroom.”

He winks at me and then he continues to watch Shayla.

“Thank you so much, Ms. Yakeema! I love everything that you bought for me,” Shayla says with her big pretty brown eyes looking directly at me.

“You’re welcome; Shayla and you don’t have to call me Ms. Yakeemah. You can just call me Ya-Ya, okay?”

“Yes ma’am. Daddy, can I go and put my things in my room?”

She starts putting everything back inside of the bags.
