Natalia had cut contact with her sisters abruptly, not willing to let them think that she had completely lost her control—not yet—because she hadn’t. Not entirely. She could feel the tether to her citizens slipping from her fingers, and now that she thought about it, Natalia realized that even her powers were beginning to wane.

She hadn’t wanted to admit how tired she’d been when she had punished the city, and hadn’t wanted to concede that it had taken a great deal of effort to gather her powers in order to enact it in the first place. Natalia and her sisters had gathered together to create their three separate worlds to show God that they were better than He was, that He had made a mistake when He’d banished them from Heaven.

Was it merely the length of time since their fall that was causing the blip she now felt? Like a tear had been made in the fabric of her world, and everything she had known for certain was now slipping through the cracks like water through her fingers…

No! No. Not her, this didn’t happen to her. She was the superior being here. The more she let this doubt creep into her heart, the more it was affecting her; that was all this was… wasn’t it?

But it wasn’t just happening to her. Raziel had said it herself, that she was struggling to keep control of her own citizens now. Her sister’s apathy had infected her people from the very beginning; it was Raziel’s way of keeping them under her control while she searched for something more for herself.

Her sister’s futile hunt for love and emotions that were not within her capacity had gone on for centuries, long before even their fall from grace. She had been caught by God during her examination of humans and their emotions, hence her banishment. But her own world hadn’t yielded any more answers. Was there an inkling of fear finally finding its way into Raziel’s heart? Was that why she was starting to lose control?

The three of them had always been so self-assured. Maybe that was what this was. They had all become complacent, and then begun to doubt themselves in their own ways, and because of that, they were unable to focus and keep control.

Yes. That made sense. Natalia had never doubted her own brilliance until Samuel and her sisters’ interference. This was all their doing. No more contact! She was putting an end to their influence in her life once and for all. She knew she was better than them; she always had been. There was no need in continuing to prove it to them. Let them live in their delusions that they could ever match up to her glory; they wouldn’t even come close.

Natalia snorted and flicked her hair over her shoulder, staring at her reflection in the wall and smiling. She was beautiful. She bit her bottom lip as she turned slightly, extending one of her legs so that she could admire its elegance and the curve of her buttocks.
