CHAPTER SEVEN
February the 14th
Look at me. I actually have a date on Valentine’s Day. And not a date with a weirdo from the internet, or a dull friend of a friend, but a bonafide hottie who is totally into me.
So into me, in fact, that I’ve found myself shopping with my sister on a Sunday. Aldersville is closed on Sundays. You may think that that’s a mere exaggeration on my part, but it’s not. The minimal number of stores all close on a Sunday, there are a few cafes open, but that’s your lot. Thankfully, Sarah was up for jumping in the car and diving off to a town near the adventure park.
My fingers glided over the sea of silk and lace in the lingerie store. They didn't match the quality of the lovely ones I had sitting pristine in my closet in the city, but they were delightfully indecent and utterly impracticable. Perfect for dazzling Tom. With a handful of sexy black numbers, I found the full-length mirror and held them up against me, one by one.
Sarah stood behind me. “God, that one’s scandalous, are those crotchless panties?”
I giggled and screwed my face up. “A bit much for a first date then?”
“Well kind of, yesterday was almost a date for you guys. You got further than I ever did on a first date!”
I felt heat prickle at my cheeks as I remembered his thumbs hooking under the hemline of my shorts and sliding towards—
“Hey, back in the room Cinderella.” Sarah walked over and sifted through the pile of underwear I held. She stopped when she found a set comprising of a black lace balconette bra set with a silk edging. Tiny hearts were embroidered into the lace on both the bra and the matching low-rise panties. There were a lace suspender belt and seamed thigh high stockings. It was perfect for a Valentine’s date. “This is the one, you’d look great in these.”
I stroked one of the tiny hearts. Was it a good idea to get involved with Tom? The passion and heat between us were undeniable, and I’d known him forever, he’s a great guy, but he wasn’t a city guy. I knew he’d never want to live in the city, and I didn’t want to move home so what future could there be for us? At the same time, my body ached at the chemistry that sizzled between us. I needed to follow my heart instead of my head for a change. My whole life had been so focused, and so regimented on achieving the goals I’d set myself. What if my stubbornness was hindering my love life?
My phone buzzed.
TOM: Sorry I missed you this morning, you were up and out early. Pick you up at 8 tonight. Dress warmly.
ME: Can’t wait! I hope you aren’t planning any more adventure trips; not sure I could cope with any more ropes and rafts.
TOM: No ropes huh? Shame ;)
I felt a tightening between my thighs. Oh jeez.
“It’s Tom, he told me to ‘dress warmly' what on earth could he have planned?” I mused.
