I wake in the morning in Loki's room still groggy, but relaxed, and without a cryptic dream from Vera, or pain. I try to sit up and look for him, but I get dizzy and fall, nearly passing out. I need energy- why is this so hard to recover? I lie there and meditate for five minutes or so until I have enough energy to get up and walk around. I'm so hungry.

I finally find something to wear, and explore my environment. I'm alone in his room, and don't feel like waiting. I'm comfortable enough in my knowledge of where I am to leave and look for him. I make the bed and scan outside the window before taking off down the hall. I pass several people- none of which pay me any mind- and turn down a hall I don't recognize accidentally; dead end. I turn heel and head away from the king's throne before anyone says a word to me, though I believe Oðinn himself saw me. I pass the hall that leads to Loki's room again, and head toward the library and dining hall. If I can't find him, I can at least get a bite to eat.

“Hello!”

“H-hello...”

A woman carrying pastries stops and hands me a sugar covered tart.

“Oh thanks.”

“You look familiar, though your speech suggests you're not from here- perhaps we've met before elsewhere? Ooh! Try the sweet- it's perfect!”

I pop it in my mouth and smile. It's good, but I think I could judge it a bit better if it wasn't the only thing I've eaten this morning.

“I knew it! Come with me then, I'll make some more! And then- breakfast.”

“Works for me then, I suppose- I'm starved!”

She rushes ahead toward the dining hall and kitchen area as I try to keep up, using a bit more energy than I really should. On the way we pass the library, and as I glance in I see him there. He's deep in a tome, and surrounded by several more. I call to him, but he doesn't look up. The woman comes back for me and takes my hand.

“Come- come quickly before they discover I've drank all the wine!”

“Wait; you what?”

She pulls me away and we continue to the kitchen. After we sneak in, she covers one of the counter tops with fresh ingredients.

“Berry?”

“Ah, sure.”

She gives me some blueberries to snack on before she tosses some flour on there and goes at it. Within seconds it seems, she's throwing them in the heat and cleaning up behind herself.

“And that's how you make them!”

“That was- fast.”

“Exactly!”

“They smell great. Can't wait for a fresh batch.”

“Oh- and now breakfast.”

She grills up some sort of egg sandwich with greens and a sauce and hands it to me.

“A little something to keep that morning sickness at bay for a little while.”

“Oh I'm not-”

“Oh yes you are- you're simply radiant, love! Is it not just joyous? Though I sense that something is the matter- are you alright?”

“I suppose but... it's a little soon- less that half a year ago I lost what was to be my first child.
