ANIYAH

I stood in my room pacing back and forth, not sure what to do. I needed to go see McKenzie but the truth is, I’m scared to face her. How do I look my sister in the eyes knowing I was the cause of her going into labor early? My mother told me she’s doing fine and so are the babies, but it’s the principle of things. I was reckless with not only my life but everyone else in the car as well.

The accident could be so much worse than it was. Charmaine isn’t even answering my calls right now. My uncle Craig and my father told me to just give her some time. Plus, the medication they gave her to take home is making her sleep a lot. It’s crazy how I was the cause of the accident but Charmaine and McKenzie got the short end of the stick.

Quan had been blowing me up ever since the accident, talking about come see the surprise he has for me. I’m tired of sitting in the house and I have no car, so I told him he could come pick me up. His surprise better be good if he wants me to forgive him for what he did. I still can’t believe out of all the bitches he could cheat on me with, he chose my stepsister.

My phone went off and I looked at It, seeing that it was Quan letting me know he was outside. I grabbed my phone and purse then headed to the front. I put my coat on then walked outside to Quan’s car.

“Hey baby, I’m glad you finally agreed to meet up with me. I’ve been going crazy not being able to see or talk to you.”

“Well nigga, you should’ve thought about that before you decided to fuck another bitch.”

“I know, I told you that it was a mistake. Shavon don’t mean shit to me.”

“Apparently, I don’t mean shit to you either,” I mumbled.

The rest of the car ride was quiet. We drove for about twenty-five minutes until we pulled up to a house in Bellwood. I had no idea whose house it was and I didn’t care. I know he didn’t find a new person’s house for us to fuck at.

“Come on, let’s get out,” Quan said.

I got out of the car and followed Quan to the house. He used a key to open the door and we stepped in. He gave me a tour of the house and it was nice. It had three bedrooms with a basement and attic. It was already fully furnished minus one of the bedrooms.

“What are we doing here, Quan?”

“This is part of the surprise I have for you. This is the house I promised you. You can finally move out of your mother’s house and in with me.”

I had mixed emotions hearing those words from Quan. I wanted this for two years, but now I don’t know how to feel after everything happened. I mean, he must be serious about me if he went out and got us a house.
