S The Picasso
When The Picasso was unveiled in Daley Plaza in 1967, it was the first major piece of public art in the city. Commissioned by the architects of the Richard J. Daley Center, the abstract, 50-foot-tall steel sculpture was modeled by Picasso, who made a gift of it to the city. Today, people stop to admire the statue on their way to work, visitors line up for photos, and kids climb up and slide down its base.
