I mostly behaved to recover. Mostly.

The only bad thing I did was pop back over to where I was injured, fully knowing the monsters would be long gone and probably already figuring out where to hunt next. I wasn’t there for them since I could track the chi of the one I’d already followed.

No, I was there to get a read of the essence of the demon. I wasn’t about to let that bastard go unscathed in all of this, and I would do what I needed to so he was sent back to where he came from.

Or worse. I personally voted for worse.

The next morning after I ate my weight in food and was cleared by Jerome after a last healing session, I was about to pop over to my new greenhouse and come up with an idea for the demon. Plus, everything else I was working on. I had a workroom, but that greenhouse had limitless possibilities and right then, I needed that vibe to help me think outside of the box.

Instead, three of the most gorgeous women I’d ever seen walked into the lobby, and they weren’t human… Or supes I’d known before the past year.

In other words, they were angels.

And they were all pissed at me from the looks I was getting.

Lovely.

The first raised her hand, but I reacted faster, flinging my magic around the three of them and unlocking my island in the Bermuda Triangle. I brought us there in the next instant and while I landed on the beach, I let them drop from a hundred feet over the ocean.

Which would have cooled them off from whatever was going on, except they had wings and were fast to use them.

Damn.

They flew towards me and landed on the beach about fifty feet away.

I wasn’t sure what to say or what came next until the light caught the first one’s hair again. I couldn’t hide my shock and a chuckle slipped past my lips. “Hello, Michelle.”

She did a double take, the other two freezing. “How do you know that name? My brothers would never speak that name to you.”

“Oh, I think Brax would tell me lots,” I purred.

“He hasn’t even told you his name,” the second snapped. “You are nothing to him.”

“I told him I didn’t need his real name as he was still the same person to me,” I clarified. “And the second is a lie and we both know it, darling.” I held up a finger to ward her off for a moment. “And I know that name from a story I read long, long ago that was thought to be a legend. It told of a mistake made by men, egotistical men, who could not believe the right hand of god would be a woman.

“So they wrote the most revered angel’s name as Michael and not the truth, that she was Michelle. The story went that it was one of the world’s greatest tragedies as she was so beautiful, many wars would never have been fought if only idiot men had looked upon her and listened to her wisdom.
