CHAPTER 13 Sinners

Mascara sat at her vanity making sure she was flawless. She was in high spirits and things were going as expected. The guys were successful with the hit and the money was already looking good. They worked together as if they had for years. No mistakes, in and out just the way that they had planned. Mascara had to pat herself on the back for putting together such a well organized set of men.

All of the men were rewarded just as Mascara had promised. She sat a lease in front of each of them giving them the option to live in the building. Some of them were living with family, or weren’t able to pay the rent where they were without having to do laborious work. Compared to their current situation this lease option gave them the opportunity to live in the lap of luxury. The rules were you work when needed, no excuses.

A fee will come out of the pay for the job to cover the rent and amenities. The rest of the pay will be deposited onto prepaid card accounts. And with the money that would be brought in it would be like they were living for free. This was just the beginning. These hits were practice anyway. There was an immense amount of money out there but they had to learn the ropes before they took steps into that direction.

But right now that was the least of her worries. Mascara had a date with someone and it was well over due. Mascara took a cab over to Grassi’s and had Miles meet her there to wait in the parking lot. She arrived early making sure she’d be two steps ahead. Mascara waited in the bar area that way she would see him when he walked in. Her palms began to sweat and her nerves were on edge.

Just as discussed, he was right on time. A little older than she expected but it was who she was waiting for. The host seated him in the section she requested and for a moment she watched him. So many thoughts were jogging through her memory. And not one of them were good. This gave her the push she needed. “No turning back.” She whispered to herself. Mascara threw back the last of her shot and strutted over to where he was.

“Marshall?” Mascara asked as she stood next to the tall man with the salt and pepper goatee. “Yes, that’s me.” Marshall answered as he stood to pull Mascara’s chair out. “I actually didn’t think that you would show up. You can’t be too sure with people.” Marshall went on to say. Mascara smiled on the outside, all the while boiling on the inside. “So… wow you look even more amazing than your pictures give off.

I mean your beautiful. Mascara smiled thanking him, shyly playing the role. “So tell me about yourself Marshall. What do you do? Where are you from?” Mascara needed to hear this. “Well let’s see. I am a retired factory worker of Chrysler.
