Chapter Nine

Christmas Eve, 2018

Dear Diary,

For once, I’m not going to write about Jack. I swear. Really.

Really.

Krampus and Avery are two of my dad’s employees. I’ve written about them before. He runs a Christmas tree farm on an island on a lake. That lake’s called The Wreath. He trains bear shifter bad boys, etc., whatever, I’ve written about this before.

Avery, on the other hand, manages a bakery on The Wreath — the same bakery I visit every day for lunch with Jack, at least, during the Christmas season.

That’s why we had a front row seat to all the drama I’ve written about over the years, but perhaps none is as exciting as the drama between Krampus and Avery.

Actually, go back to my diary entry from earlier this month. It wasn’t just a front row seat — we were driving the damn drama sleigh. It’s a long story, but long story short — I hope driving a flying sleigh is easier than driving the kind that goes through snow.

The two of them claim to ‘not have feelings one way or the other’ for each other, but, come on. They’re totally into each other. He could visit any bakery on The Wreath. Why does he show up at her bakery every day during the Christmas season? And why does she handle his order herself?
