He’d done it! He couldn’t believe he’d done it! He asked her out, and she actually said yes! Elliott was positively ecstatic as he walked back to his car. He could hardly contain himself.

He immediately drove to the clearing where he normally entered the woods. Quickly stripping and placing his clothes into the tree stump he always used, he immediately shifted and took off in a sprint.

He howled in excitement and ran as fast as he could through the woods, just trying to get the excess energy out of his body.

Suddenly, he was tackled from the side by a smaller brown wolf, and the two of them went tumbling through the trees.

“Lucy!” Elliott shouted through their minds once they’d stopped tumbling.

She continued to wrestle him, which he gladly went along with, taking advantage of getting his pent-up energy out.

“Lucy, what are you doing here?” He laughed once it was clear he was the winner of their little wrestling match.

“Just needed to go for a little run.” She snarled playfully.

“Does Mom know you’re skipping classes?”

“It’s just last period,” she said, rolling over onto her back. “And what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.”

He scoffed at her. He would be lying if he said he never skipped classes to go for runs in high school. Being stuck in one spot all day long was aggravating.

“So, what are you doing out here? You’re not one to go for day runs through the woods.” She cocked her head to the side and looked at him disapprovingly. “And I heard you howling. You know better than to do that during the day, especially with those strange disappearances happening recently.”

“Just had some pent-up energy I needed to get out,” he said nonchalantly, looking away from her and out into the woods.

“Pent-up energy?” she questioned at her brother’s odd tone.

“Yeah, I, uh… I did something a little crazy, and I felt like I needed a run.”

“Sounded more like a celebration to me.”

“Well...” he teased, standing up and stretching out his limbs.

“Oh, stop being so cryptic and just tell me already!” she demanded as she hopped up and circled him excitedly.

“I asked her out.”

Lucy’s eyes grew wide at the statement, and she started hopping up and down.

“You asked her out?” she said giddily, taking her turn to howl happily. “What did she say?”

“She said yes, obviously!” He dashed around the clearing, energy coursing through him all over again.

Lucy was squealing in his head and running in circles along with him.

“So, where are you taking her? The movies? A romantic dinner for two? I wanna know everything!”

Elliott stopped in his tracks. He hadn’t even thought about what the actual date was going to be yet.

What was he going to do?
