Chapter Six

It’d taken a lot of coaxing, but finally, Chris gave his permission for Might to go for a fly. Although, Might had to promise not to leave pack lands. That was a promise that Might was happy to make. He was just glad to be able to go out and finally stretch his wings.

Might’s heart was beating with excitement as he and Adan went out the back of the dwelling to where most of the pack land was. Adan had held Might’s hand the entire way through the building, ignoring all the scathing looks that were coming their way. The sad thing was Might didn’t know if they were directed at him or Adan. Heck, they could have been directed at the both of them for all he knew.

Might refused to let that ruin his day. Nothing was going to get between him and the thrill of finally being able to shift. Might was burning with such anticipation that he was practically bouncing on his feet. It was night outside, and there was just the right amount of wind for a good flight.

Adan squeezed Might’s hand. “Are you ready?”

Might nodded. “Hell, yeah!”

Adan let the change come over him as Might followed his lead. Soon there was a large Gray Wolf and a majestic Bald Eagle standing in their place. Might took a few steps forward so he could stretch out his wings. A thrill went through him. It felt so damn good, because it’d been way too long since he’d been able to do that one simple act.

Adan let out a little yipping sound before he ran into the dense woods. Might accepted that as his cue. He took flight. The wind rushed across his face and ruffled his feathers as Might circled the pack lands.

He had forgotten how good this felt. How free it made him seem. Gone were all his worries and his shame. It was just him and the sky.

It was so wonderful that Might kept flying until Adan’s howl brought him back in. Making his way back to the dwelling, Might landed, then shifted back into his human form.

The first thing he did was hug Adan. “Thank you! I had forgotten how wonderful that was.”

Adan hugged him back. “You’re welcome. We can go anytime you like.”

“Really? You’re sure it’s not too much of a bother to you?”

“Not at all. Especially if it makes you this happy.” Adan pulled back and placed a brief kiss on Might’s forehead.

Might was confused and didn’t bother to try and hide it. “Why haven’t you tried to make any moves on me yet? Aren’t you attracted to me?”

“I’m very attracted to you. It’s just I want to show you that you are more than just sex to me. That you’re worth the wait,” Adan said.

Might’s heart melted at those words, and he knew at that moment that if he wasn’t careful he could very well lose his heart to Adan. Which could be a very dangerous thing since Might knew that would only result in his heart being broken.
