After supper, Edina went to bed and slept soundly, glad that she was home and the whole time in Midwood was just a dream.

In the morning she woke and went downstairs for breakfast. Her parents were already there, drinking tea and starting to eat.

"I must hurry," Edina said. "I'll be late for classes."

"It's Saturday, little duck," her father told her. "There aren't any classes today, and we have to go to the Mayor's speech."

Edina was pleased. She hated listening to the Mayor, but she was glad to have time off from classes. She sat and ate her breakfast and had some tea, but everything tasted odd to her. She looked around the room and in the corner of the kitchen she noticed something strange.
