Quisling sought to safeguard the neutrality of Norway by informing Hitler of British plans to wage war upon Germany by occupying Scandinavian territory. After the war, Quisling was tried for “treason” and executed by firing squad.

2- Prior to the invasion of Denmark, the Germans dropped leaflets explaining to the Danish people that their imminent arrival was meant to thwart British plans to wage war from neutral Scandinavia.
