Rohan Sullivan, aka “Sparky,” was about six-and-a-half-feet tall with frizzy red hair and a quick smile. But it wasn’t only his physical appearance that distinguished him so completely from Haylee’s former boss—Rohan was more than happy to add a female electrician to his crew. Or any electrician, as there was a definite shortage of qualified tradespeople willing to live and work in a small town in northern Nevada.

As he’d said during their telephone interview, “It doesn’t bother me if you pee sitting down or standing up as long as you know how to use a Megger.”

Haylee did and she was hired.

She started work at 8:00 a.m. and clocked out at 4:00 p.m. But living with Caleb and Brielle at the Circle G meant that she had to be out of the house shortly after seven each morning to ensure she made it to work on time. And then she got to do the forty-minute drive again at the end of the day.

She’d anticipated that living and working in Haven would make it easier to get together with Trevor, but she didn’t see him at all the first week. The second week, he was out of town at a trade show for three days, but they agreed to meet at Diggers’ for dinner Friday night.

Of course, having dinner in town required Haylee to make another trip back and forth to the ranch so that she could wash off the sweat from her day and make herself pretty—or at least presentable—for a date with the father of her babies. After her shower, she sat on the edge of the bed to put on her socks and closed her eyes for just a minute.

Dr. Robertson had assured her that tiredness was a common problem for many expectant moms in the first trimester. She’d also warned that many of the usual signs and symptoms might be amplified due to the fact that Haylee was carrying two babies, but that she should start to feel a little more energetic by the second semester.

She couldn’t wait...
