Afterworld was exactly like I'd expected it to be, and yet it wasn't.

To describe it in one word, Afterworld was Hawaii. A long, beautiful beach ran as far as the eye could see, and cute little cabins dotted the sandy plains. The ocean never seemed to end, and neither did the beach. It was as if the entire world was just a long stretch of sand and beautiful ocean, which I supposed it was. After all, wasn't Afterworld the heaven we read about in the human realm? That meant it was the most beautiful, peaceful place a person could imagine.

My magic told me Afterworld was a touch more complicated than Otherworld. Afterworld didn't have a fixed appearance. The way it appeared to me wasn’t what it looked like to every other soul. It was what the person who came here considered their favorite place. For some, it could be a cabin in the mountains, for others it could be a white Christmas town with tons of snow. Afterworld would look different to each of its members, and that fascinated me to no end.

I removed my shoes, picking them up and smiling as I walked through the sand. I loved the way the sand felt under my toes, just warm enough to walk comfortably. I wondered if we could come to Afterworld for vacation or if that wasn't allowed. I loved Otherworld, and I loved the Villa we lived in, but beaches had always been my favorite, and I would love to bring Reece, Damien, and Walker to see the water.

The thought reminded me of what I was actually there to do, and I quickened my steps slightly.

I spotted a resort off the beach, an enormous complex that reminded me of expensive resorts in brochures that I’d always dreamed of visiting but could never afford. My magic told me it was actually Tharion's palace, and I shook my head. I may have met Tharion for only a few minutes, but somehow this place fit him perfectly and was just the right amount of kingly and surfer boy.

I climbed the few steps to the entrance, wondering where I should go next. I knew exactly where Tharion's office was and even his personal residence, but I didn't think it was the best idea to just walk in.

"Mr. Artemus, Consort of Otherworld?" a voice called, and my brows shot up at the title as I turned to the speaker. A woman dressed in a professional-looking suit with long—like seriously it touched the floor—white hair and blue eyes stared back at me, a small smile on her face.

"Yes, that's me," I answered, still feeling a touch weird about the title. Now that I thought about it, though, the magic told me it was what everyone would call me and Reece. Consort, huh? That was a title I'd never thought I’d have. Dom, Sir, Master, I knew and could relate to, but Consort? Wow.

"King Tharion and Fate are waiting for you, sir. Please join them in the dining area," she said, waving at a door off the lobby.
